Make a tank connector and place it along with the air scrubber attached to it in the green house. Make the east/ west walls and ceiling windows and the north/south walls the iron walls that you get at start. I put my airlock on a north or south side to not block any sunlight. Place the Kit Battery pretty quick and charge it with coal from the generator.Ĭonstruct a 2x3 greenhouse with the 3 unit long side going east to west and 2 unit side north south. You'll need it for making a Kit Battery and Kit Tank. Next, smelt some ingots for an electronics printer/hydraulic pipe bender. Once you get a furnace up, make some Iron/Copper/Gold ingots, and dont forget steel ingots.

Constructing it first also helps because it should be night when you're placing it at this point. Use those resources for constructing a furnace first. However, you do need coal to charge the kit battery. Side note: This setup does not use a solar panel to save time/resources with setting up a logic circuit. You'll eventually place a kit battery in the circuit in step 4. The Large Battery they give you is great for the APC. Make sure to hook up an APC between your generator and the rest of the machines. Head back before nightfall (or shortly after if you're using the starting beacon). I also pick up 1-2 stacks of coal because of later steps. Focus on getting at least 1 stack copper/ 2 stacks of iron/ 0.5 stack of gold minimum (you'll need more eventually). Focus on getting 1 stack of each volitiles/oxcite/ H2O ice (that's plenty of each for early game, and more stacks waste inventory). Going at night wastes time, unless you're desperate for a particular resource. Mine resources during the daylight while visibility is good. Also, personally, I like to drop everything I dont need in a small hole to make room for ore. I like to place a couple frames down to help me remember for later. Also, feel free to describe your own setups! I enjoy squeezing efficiency out of this game a lot and gathering other ideas. I posted this as a comment a little while ago and got some positive feedback on it, so decided to make it a post.

So, I put together a list of steps I use to survive without dying on the starting difficulty. Some people I know who play the game mention the hunger settings and opt to modify them to be easier.
